Description
Eisenman have released a limited edition run of Inconel rear exhausts for the E9X M3, offering the first real world alternative to Titanium for those seeking a light weight system.
Inconel is a special austenitic nickel-chromium-based superalloy, made predominantly from Nickel and Chromimum, making it extremely lightweight as a result.
Inconel is oxidation and corrosion resistant, well suited for extreme environments. When heated, Inconel forms a thick, stable, passivating oxide layer protecting the surface from further attack, and giving it a unique sheen – like finish that in some lights has a very mild blueish hue. Inconel retains strength over a wide temperature range, perfect for high temperature applications where aluminum and steel would succumb to creep as a result of thermally-induced crystal vacancies.
Working with Inconel can be difficult at times due to it’s rapid work – hardening properties, but well worth the effort.
Inconel offers a true alternative to Titanium construction as it only about 15% heavier ( and about half the weight of stainless steel), and does not suffer the progressive annealing and weld issues that often lead to cracks and breakages on many Titanium products, particularly exhausts. Inconel’s physical properties also give a unique exhaust note.
Eisenmann use grade 625 Inconel on their exhaust with a wall thickness of 1 to 1.5 mm.
*(This listing is for Rear exhaust + s/s connecting pipes)*
