ARP Con Rod Bolt Sets give you a clear advantage over the OEM Con Rod Bolts: strength!
Even cosmetically, the difference in construction and quality is apparent... If you look at many of the OEM bolts, you will see a taper on the threads which actually takes away bolt grip.
ARP Pro Series connecting rod bolts are different: Precision CNC-machined to exacting specifications and designed for optimum reliability, their designed for full engagement, quality controlled in each batch, and heat-treated with threads which are rolled to provide up to ten times more fatigue strength than standard OEM BMW fasteners.
Due to the fact that the OE Connecting Rod Bolt is typically one of the first failure points in the bottom end of the BMW engine (Turbo, SC, or Naturally Aspirated) We can't recommend these bolts enough! If your rebuilding you're engine, and have any performance aspirations but cannot afford upgraded aftermarket rods; invest in much stronger ARP con rod bolts.

IMPORTANT : Please check your rod bolt under-head length (expressed as UHL) and diameter before ordering replacement rod bolts to ensure you get the right set: here are some popular applications and their ARP sizes:

•M20 and M50TU bolt sets, an UHL of 53mm
•S54 have 2 different sizes of rod bolt; Late - 10mm (After Feb 03) and Early 11mm (before Feb 03)
•M42, M50, S50US/S52US, M52TU have an UHL of 44mm. Please check your rod UHL before ordering as these can vary.
•M52tu & M54 are only avalible as replacement bolts with a 47mm UHL. Please check your rod UHL before ordering as these can vary.

Through experimentation and data acquired from the E36 World Challenge Touring Cars, it was discovered that in long corners and under heavy braking there was an oil starvation problem in the M50 and M52 engines.

This baffle system was developed to keep oil in the sump and eliminate the starvation problem. After several iterations, further testing and data acquisition in the Touring Cars showed that this system eliminates the problem of oil starvation.

This is a less expensive alternative to replacing the stock oil pan with the factory BMW M3 Lightweight oil pan, while still achieving the similar results.
