A larger throttle body increases the amount of air (and thus fuel) that can enter the engine resulting in a performance increase. Coupled with a high flow intake manifold, this upgrade can produce between 20 and 25 bhp, or 1pprox 10 bhp on it's own ( E36 328).

Modified factory M50 manifold complete with increased bore throttle body to fit all M52 6 - Cyl engines, E36 & E39 2.0, 2.3 and 2.8 L engines.

Bolts straight-on and provides more volumetric flow than the original M52 set up,typical power increase of 20-25 bhp (E36 328).

High flow / high performance air filters that simply replace the factory original versions within the factory airbox.

PERFORMANCE
BMC air filters are designed and produced to ensure a higher air flow than original paper filters. In F1, for example, BMC cotton filters minimize the loss of air flow pressure passing through the air filter; this way ensures the best conditions for full exploitation of maximum power. Therefore the benefits of replacing the original paper filter with BMC cotton air filter, produced using the same technology and materials as the F1 air filters, are evident.

DESIGN AND MATERIALS
Qualified engineers using advanced software and expert technicians using the latest technologies produce BMC air filters. An F1 filter must be very light, must be made of the best raw materials and must improve performance. For this reason we use only alloy mesh with epoxy coating to ensure protection from petrol fumes and from oxidization due to the humidity of the air. The filtering material is composed of a special cotton gauze soaked with low-viscosity oil to give you the best air permeability.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
BMC technical staff has developed a particular production system based on soft rubber moulding which produces the familiar BMC red filters. They are made in one single piece with no welded joints in the corners, thus avoiding breaking risks. This system, called "Full Moulding" comes from R&D in F1 and it is significant of BMC air filters' technical and quality specifics.

After trying out and dyno-testing at least 5 different induction kits from different manufacturers for BMWs, we can confirm these are the best we have come across for European BMW cars.
Unusually for such an induction system, it actually boosts mid range as well as top end power delivery and response.

We have dyno measured an increase of 8 horsepower increase over standard E36 M3 evo airboxes.

Performance of this system is almost entirely down to the fact that it completely isolates the area around the air filter from the engine bay heat due to the most efficient heatshielding system on the market .

Most induction kits are sold purely as a filter kit that bolts directly onto the end of the airflow meter; this is fine until the engine actually warms up and the hot air gets blown onto the filter by the radiator fan, thereby raising the temperature of the intake, meaning that air is less dense, meaning less fuel is delivered to the engine which actually produces a DROP in power and throttle response. No matter how much piping and ducting you direct at the filter, you will LOSE POWER unless you have a sealed heat resistant box around it.

Due to the sealed cold box construction of this kit, the temperature difference between the adjacent engine bay and your air filter housing at full operating temperature will be in the region of 70 DEGREES FARENHEIT!! ( See lower two images on thre right for comparison).

The heavy, double insulated CAIS walls will help maintain the colder air intake charge even under extreme hot, humid conditions. Genuine carbon fibre grill cover is included with the kit, ( not the heavy steel version you see in most pictures here )

BEWARE of inferior imitations of this kit , theymay look the same but do not insulate against power sapping engine heat anywhere near as much.

The multi throttle body intake systems produced by our company is the successor of our double carburetor kits.

As is the case for the double carburetor kits the objective here is also the optimum artificial respiration of the engine.

For this reason, instead of the central throttle valve used for the sucking of all cylinders in the conventional intake systems, this system only has one throttle valve for each cylinder.

In combination with one injection valve per cylinder, this system offers optimum filling of cylinders throughout the whole speed range of the engine.

Another advantage of the dbilas dynamic multi-throttle body intake systems is that it offers the possibility of using "sharper" camshafts without negative influence on the smoothness of running. Only this method allows aspirating engines to achieve high liter performance.

Due to the same suction pipe length and simultaneously the same data a better mixture of the fuel and the asprated air is provided. Consequently the combustion is more efficient which results in an improvement of the fuel consumption in some operation areas.

A characteristic feature of our multi-throttle body intake systems is that not only the pollution classification of the vehicle is maintained but also the good running culture according to standard.

These characteristics remain unchanged, since all electronic sensors and actuators such as injection valves, air flow sensors or meters, throttle switches and idle control valves continue to be used in the systems.

These top of the range "High-End Intake Systems" is made without compromise to maximize the overall performance of air intake systems as one complete unit. Conical air filter, placed within the inner and outer of center cone, controls air turbulences that in turn forces the speed of airflow to accelerate. Each carbon intake is custom made specially to meet the specification of the individual car .Other mechanisms within the systems, such as heat insulation and air-cooling, are also carefully designed to work in synergy to produce the superlative performance of the whole unit.

The system isolates the engine heat, delivering cool air to the filter, and performs the function of an air chamber, giving priority to intake efficiency The shape is specially designed for each model, taking into consideration the engine characteristics and the character of the vehicle.

In order to achieve even better air-intake rectification, center cones have been installed in the filter tops and inners.

The filter has multiple layers of natural cotton, strengthened using stainless steel mesh. It is a wet type using special oil. This is the ultimate inlet manifold forE36 M52 engines , providing a higher flow even than our modified M50 manifold conversion featured elsewhere on our site.

Combined with a big bore throttle body, this can produce up to 35 horsepower increase (depending on engine and state of tune).
Expect about 15bhp with the manifold alone.

Slide throttles operate just like they sound, in that the throttle plates slide sideways, instead of rotating about an axis as for butterflies in more traditional throttle body set ups.

Mainly used for racing, the advantage is that when the throttles are fully open, the plates are completely removed from the airflow, so there is no obstruction blocking the inlet path to the combustion chambers.
